Chip's Challenge levels by Graue

Here you will find some levels I have made for the game Chip's Challenge. They also work in Tile World, an emulation of Chip's Challenge, in which I do my playing these days.

CatatonicP1

This is my oldest levelset and is also available on the Yahoo! group where most Chip's Challenge levels are found. It contains 64 levels for the "MS" flavor of Chip's Challenge, some dating back to 1998. Most of the levels are not very good. A few were made by my friend Rick and are noted as such.

CP1

This was an attempt to make some of the good levels in CatatonicP1.dat ("good" being a relative term) work in Lynx, as well as adding some new levels. This levelset can be played in MS CC or Tile World in either ruleset. Unfortunately, though, a few of the levels are not actually Lynx compatible, like level 19, which is not possible without arbitrary clone connections.

Eventually I pruned this level set and edited it even further into CP2.dat, but it is still worth checking out, because of some cool levels I wasn't able to make work in pure Lynx. In particular, you might want to look at level 13, Tank Station, which has a different ending depending on the ruleset used, and level 19, Enemy Fire, which although not possible in Lynx is a unique and enjoyable level.

The total number of levels in this set is 19. Be sure to read the readme included in the zip.

CP2

Although also unfinished, this was intended to further refine CP1. Levels not possible in "pure" Lynx were removed. Six new levels were added. This levelset is fully compatible with both the Lynx and MS flavors of Tile World, as far as I can tell.

I did not intend to release this, but some people found it on an unfinished website of mine and started linking to it, so I guess it's officially released now. Most of it is playable. Enjoy.

Graue1_LYNX

68 levels for Lynx mode, last updated May 24, 2006. I have solved every level in this set, so none is impossible or excruciatingly frustrating.

The vast majority of levels in this set are completely new. At first glance, a narrow majority appear to work in the MS ruleset and thus qualify for CCLP3, though some of my favorites won't make the cut.

I might update this one, unlike my older level sets.

Copyright issues

I think it's important that Chip's Challenge level designers be able to build on each other's work. As such, if you have designed levels, I urge you to place them in the public domain. A statement like "I dedicate my Chip's Challenge levels to the public domain -- anyone may do whatever they want with my levels" should work.
