Submission Guidelines:
We're a little different from some netlabels,
so read this carefully:
- We're a label, not an MP3 dump site. We expect
your music to be essentially complete,
but we do master all releases at a minimum, and we
will discuss artistic and production
considerations with you to make sure your album is
the best possible. Be prepared to work with
us.
- Because we believe in filesharing, sampling,
fan remixing, and other fun stuff, Oceanbase
releases are uncopyrighted and released to the
public domain.
- Keep your original uncompressed (WAV) or
losslessly compressed (FLAC)
mixdowns. It's okay to send us demos in MP3, as
that's just for listening, but we will need full
fidelity if we decide to release your music
— MP3 doesn't hold up well when mastered, or
converted to other formats.
- Stylistically, right now we have two
(sometimes three) people who review submissions,
and it really comes down to what we like. Broadly,
we can be said to be interested in electronic
music, rock music, and everything in between, but
it has to have some innovative edge so it isn't
generic... and other styles aren't a definite no.
Let's just say we want to release fresh music with
a soul. And we know it when we hear it.
If you agree with the above, send us a
description of your proposed release and links to
where we can hear the songs to scott@oceanbase.org. Please don't send large
files directly via email. We have an FTP server
you can upload your music to if you need it.
Thanks for considering Oceanbase.
